Hermann Schnell (politician)

Hermann Schnell (born March 25, 1914 in Vienna ; † February 1, 2003 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and executive president of the City School Council for Vienna. He was 1970-1971 member of the Bundesrat and 1971-1983 Member of the National Council .

Life

Schnell attended elementary school from 1920 to 1925 and the community school from 1925 to 1928. Then he graduated from a teacher training institute until 1933 and the Pedagogical Institute of the City of Vienna from 1933 to 1934. Quick continued his studies from 1934 to 1939 with a degree in philosophy, German, English and history at the University of Vienna continued, whereby it 1939 Dr. phil. PhD. He also passed the teaching examination for Esperanto , the teaching examination for elementary and secondary schools in the subjects of German, geography and history, and the teaching examination for secondary schools in the subjects of German, philosophy and English.

Schnell worked as a primary school teacher as early as 1937, from 1940 to 1945 he served in World War II, where he was temporarily in captivity in Germany. After his return he worked as a secondary school teacher in 1946, after which he was a professor at a teacher training institute between 1947 and 1948 . In 1949 he became the main school director of the training school of the Pedagogical Institute and in 1951 moved as director to the Pedagogical Institute of the City of Vienna , which he headed until 1969. He was also a district school inspector from 1956 to 1964 and a state school inspector from 1962 to 1969. From 1969 to 1980 he was President of the City School Council for Vienna . Schnell also worked as a textbook author and wrote educational texts, in 1968 he was awarded the professional title of Hofrat.

In addition to his professional activity, Schnell was chairman of the Central Association of Teachers in Vienna and Federal Chairman and Deputy Federal Chairman of the Socialist Teachers' Association of Austria. He represented the SPÖ Vienna from December 15, 1970 to October 21, 1971 in the Federal Council and was then a member of the National Council between November 4, 1971 and January 10, 1983.

They were quickly buried at the Neustift cemetery .
