Hermann Stange

Hermann Stange (born December 19, 1835 in Kiel , † June 22, 1914 there ) was a German conductor , organist and composer .

Life

Hermann Stange first studied in his hometown of Kiel before becoming a student at the Leipzig Conservatory . His first employment was as a private teacher with Count Bernstorff in Hanover and with Prince Hermann zu Wied in Neuwied . From 1860–1864 he was organist at Rossall College in England . In 1866 Stange became cathedral organist in Schleswig , but returned to Kiel in 1876 as organist and conductor of the Kiel Choral Society. Two years later he was appointed academic music director of the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .
