Hermann Wiegmann

Hermann Wiegmann (* 1937 ) is a German Germanist and grammar school teacher .

After studying German , philosophy and Catholic theology , Wiegmann passed the state examination for teaching in 1970 and received his doctorate in 1975 with a dissertation on Ernst Bloch's aesthetics . In addition to working as a high school teacher, Wiegmann taught at the University of Oldenburg , where he received his habilitation in 1980 with a paper on the conceptual history of aesthetics. Since 1987 he has been an adjunct professor for modern German literature , and finally also a guest professor for rhetoric at the University of Tübingen , where he took over the event contingent of the retired Walter Jens . On various occasions he has given guest lectures at well-known universities such as Cambridge , Salamanca , Brussels , the Sorbonne in Paris a. a. invited. In addition, he was for many years a member of the board of the Ernst Bloch Society and on the scientific advisory board for the editing of the Historical Dictionary of Rhetoric .

Wiegmann mainly works in the fields of aesthetics, poetics , rhetoric and literary history , as shown by numerous book publications, but also on Karl May , for example .
