Hermann Zolling

Hermann Zolling (* 1924 ; † December 24, 1971 in Hamburg ) was a German journalist . Since 1966 editor of the magazine " Der Spiegel ", he published as co-author together with Heinz Höhne in autumn 1971 the book "Pullach intern" about the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), which was based on a 15-part series of articles in Spiegel magazine .

Zolling died on Christmas Eve 1971 at the age of 47 as a result of a heart attack . He had suffered a first heart attack a few years earlier.

family

Zolling's uncle was Ernst Zolling, a long-time BND employee, who previously served as Colonel of the Wehrmacht as Chief Defense Officer of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel . Ernst Zolling, born in 1903, worked as a military advisor in Egypt on behalf of the BND in the 1950s .
