Hermann von Diepenbrock

Hermann von Diepenbrock (* 1549 ; † November 3, 1596 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and canon in Paderborn as well as court chamber councilor and cathedral scholaster in Münster .

Life

Hermann von Diepenbrock was born the son of Heinrich von Diepenbrock zu Buldern (* 1500) and his wife Anna von Oer zu Kakesbeck (* 1517). She was the daughter of Berndt von Oer . In 1559 the two sitters were in the Buldern house . His sister Sophia was married to Jobst Droste to Vehof. His brother Heinrich was canon in Münster from 1566 to 1568. On February 18, 1557 Hermann got on presentation of Turnars Heinrich von Oer the Dompräbende of the late Canon Bitter Raesfeld . At the age of fourteen he received on 28 September 1563 consecration of the sub-deacon . In the following year Hermann acted as a turnar himself. The election for the Cathedral Scholaster fell on August 27, 1569. The episcopal confirmation followed on September 1. A week later he took possession of the scholasterei. Hermann held the office of the court chamber council from 1573 and was ordained on June 22, 1574 after the death of Bishop Johann von Hoya with further dignities to the government of the prince-bishopric . As early as 1573 Hermann had turned to the Pope with the request to allow his intended marriage and to release him from the subdiaconate. On November 1st of that year he was given permission to marry, so that the goods Buldern and Boick would not fall to a non-Catholic family. On November 13, 1575, the cathedral chapter raised no objection to Hermann's resignation . The day before he had attended Chapter Day with 33 other dignities . Significantly, 29 canons were Catholic and 15 Protestant . On December 29, 1575 he renounced the turnar Herbord de Bar and married on January 31, 1576 Gertrud von Holle. The marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter.
