Hermann von Sachsenheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann von Sachsenheim (* between 1366 and 1369 in Groß-Sachsenheim or on the Gut Ingersheim am Neckar; † June 5, 1458 in Konstanz ) was a German poet .

From 1419 to 1442, Hermann Rat, who came from an old noble family, was the widowed Countess Henriette von Mömpelgard , who at that time was the guardian of her sons in the regency of Württemberg .

Between 1421 and 1426 he was Vogt of Neuenbürg, in 1427 Vogt of Eichelberg near Weinsberg. In 1431 Hermann von Sachsenheim received the family fief to Groß-Sachsenheim.

On January 25, 1442, the Nürtingen Treaty between Ludwig I and his brother Ulrich V was signed, which resulted in the division of the country. His relationship with the Urach line, especially with the wife of the incumbent Count Ludwig, Mechthild, was important for Hermann's work as a poet . Two of his epic works are dedicated to her: "Die Mörin" and "Der Spiegel" . Her widow's residence in Rottenburg am Neckar , where after the death of her second husband Archduke Albrecht VI. von Austria (1418–1463) set up a court of the muses, can hardly have served as a model for Hermann's Venushof der Mörin, since Hermann von Sachsenheim died in 1458. It can be assumed, however, that Mechthild's promotion of the arts began at the Württemberger Hof.

Hermann's son of the same name, Hermann, was the Württemberg state steward, and his brother Jörg von Sachsenheim was wrongly ascribed a share in the creation of the Sachsenheim prayer book, which is kept in the Württemberg State Library .
