Herrljunga is a place in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Västergötland . It is located about 35 kilometers northeast of the city of Alingsås and is the capital of the municipality of the same name .
Herrljunga is a railway junction where the Älvsborgsbana crosses the Västra stambana and connects the Gårdsjö – Håkantorp railway to the mainline. The place is also known for the sparkling apple wine produced here , the Herrljunga Cider .
The Herrljunga Stone Chest , a stone chamber grave from the Neolithic (1800–1500 BC), is located in the new cemetery in Herrljunga. To the west of the village lies the Nycklabacken burial ground .
There are also two rune stones from the Viking Age in Herrljunga .
