The rule of Bussen , based at Bussen Castle near Uttenweiler , today a municipality in the district of Biberach ( Baden-Württemberg ), was presumably handed over to Reichenau Monastery in the 12th century after the Counts of Bregenz died out. In 1314 Habsburg pledged the rule to the Counts of Hohenberg , after 1352 to the Ellerbach and 1387 to the Truchsessen von Waldburg . They sold the rule to the Princes of Thurn und Taxis in 1786 .

As part of the mediatization in 1806, the rule Bussen came under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Württemberg .
