The Hersbrucker Zeitung gets its supraregional coat from the Nürnberger Nachrichten . In 1998, the Hersbrucker Zeitung merged with the other two local newspapers ( Der Bote ( Altdorf near Nuremberg ) and Pegnitz-Zeitung ( Lauf an der Pegnitz )) of the district of Nürnberger Land to form the Nürnberger Land media association . The sold circulation , including a partial circulation of the Nordbayerische Zeitung, is 6520 copies, which means a decrease of 25.6 percent since 1998.

history

In 1848, the teacher's son Konrad Bartholomäus Pfeiffer opened a small print shop in Hersbruck and published the weekly official and advertising paper under the name of the weekly newspaper of the city of Hersbruck and the surrounding area from October 28th . In 1859 it went on to appear twice a week. From 1863 he expanded it in an enlarged format to the Hersbruck-Laufer Wochenblatt , which then included not only official announcements but also news.

Technical progress and the abolished press censorship enabled Konrad Pfeiffer's son Karl to expand the content and increase the circulation after taking over the business in 1885. The scope and quality of reporting increased when Karl Pfeiffer's son Georg, a trained journalist, took over management after the First World War . By appearing more frequently, the weekly newspaper changed into a daily newspaper with the title Hersbrucker Zeitung by 1925 .

After the National Socialists came to power in Germany , the news material was consistently shaped by Nazi propaganda or subjected to censorship. The editors Ludwig Winter and Emil Leis, whom Georg Pfeiffer hired one after the other, maneuvered the editorial ship through the cliffs of the "language regulations" prescribed by the Propaganda Ministry until March 1943, when the Hersbrucker Zeitung had to cease publication for economic reasons.

In autumn 1949, newspapers that had still existed in the Third Reich were allowed to appear again. Georg Pfeiffer founded a cooperative with a central editorial office, which supplied the participating publishers with the general section of the newspaper. His son Eckhardt Pfeiffer acted as managing director in the mid-1950s, before he took over the Hersbruck local editorial team and his brother Hannsgörg took over the printing company in 1957.

At the end of the 1980s, a community of interests of Middle Franconian home newspapers was formed with the Nürnberger Nachrichten . Since then, the Nürnberger Nachrichten has been the cover of the Hersbrucker Zeitung . In 1992, Ursula Pfeiffer, the fifth generation of the family, took over management of the company. In May 2015 the HZ got a new face: The logo was designed more modern, so that now a deer jumps through the lettering.

In February 2014, Ursula Pfeiffer founded the Pfeiffer Medienfabrik advertising agency as a wholly-owned subsidiary that has been designing the HZ and expanding its digital offerings ever since.

Since September 2010, the Hersbrucker Zeitung has been publishing the free advertising paper Die Woche im Pegnitztal (WiP) every Wednesday together with the Pegnitz-Zeitung in Lauf . The edition of the sheet is 47,000 copies.
