Herzfeld is the largest village in the municipality of Lippetal in the Soest district with 3281 inhabitants (as of September 30, 2016).

geography

Herzfeld is located north of the Lippe opposite the Hovestadt Castle, south of the Lippe, in the southern Münsterland at the end of the Soester Börde . Neighboring larger cities are Lippstadt 14 kilometers east, Hamm 18 km west, Beckum 12 km north and Soest 11 km south of Herzfeld.

Districts

Herzfeld has many districts, to which the farmers Kesseler , Schachtrup, Heckentrup, Rassenhövel, Höntrup, Uelentrup belong.

In total, that is 1,800 inhabitants for the Herzfeld area, so the place has around 3,500 inhabitants.

history

Herzfeld was first mentioned in a document in 786, making it the oldest settlement in the Lippetal. Around 790 St. Ida and her husband Ekbert built one of the first Christian churches in Westphalia. A new late Romanesque church was built around 1250, which was then heavily rebuilt and renovated around 1506.

In 1841 Herzfeld came to the Liesborn-Wadersloh office ( Beckum district ). In 1901 the St. Ida Church was rebuilt, which was elevated to a minor basilica in 2011 . In 1939 there were 2167 inhabitants in Herzfeld. On July 1, 1969, Herzfeld was incorporated from the Beckum district into the Lippetal community, which was newly created as part of the municipal reorganization.

Buildings

The most outstanding building is the neo-Gothic pilgrimage church of St. Ida , built in the course of historicism, with the tomb of St. Ida , the founder of the parish in Herzfeld around the year 800. Construction of the neo-Gothic basilica began in 1900.

The protected Antonius chapel is also worth seeing .

Regular events

The most important events in Herzfeld are:

  • Schützenfest (4th weekend in July)
  • Ida festival week (usually the week after September 4th)
  • Trade show (every fourth year, most recently in 2017)

economy

Several companies are located in the industrial areas. Since 2007, the magazine "Der Lippetaler" has been reporting regularly on the commercial operations and general life in the rural community. The magazine financed by advertisements appears every two months and is distributed free of charge.

Infrastructure

There is an hourly bus from Herzfeld to the train station in Soest . Other lines connect the place with Beckum, Lippstadt and Oelde.

By car, it is 13 km to the A2 in Hamm-Uentrop, 12 km to the A2 in Oelde and 13 km to the Soest-Ost motorway A44 .
