Duchy of Krakow
The Duchy of Krakow (Polish Księstwo krakowskie , Latin ducatus Cracoviensis ) was a dominion in Poland from 1138 to 1320 with the main fortress Krakow .
history
1138 divided Bolesław III. Wrymouth raised the Kingdom of Poland among his sons. The newly formed Duchy of Krakow went to the eldest son Władysław II and was supposed to be the seat of the Senior Duke (Princeps) of Poland.
In 1320 the duchy was dissolved and transformed into the Krakow Voivodeship .
area
The rulership of the duchy comprised the area around Krakow with western Kujawy , parts of Greater Poland around Gniezno and Kalisz , Pomerania and the Supremat over Pomerania in 1138 . In 1173 Kujawien, 1181 eastern Wielkopolska and 1227 Pomeranians were detached.
