The nature reserve Galgenberg / Auf dem Glindschen Grund is located southeast of Obermarsberg in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan and is 45.75 hectares in size. The K 65 runs partly in the NSG. The Glindetal nature reserve borders directly to the east . To the west of the NSG lies the Auf der Wiemecke nature reserve , with the two protected areas only being separated from each other by the K 65.

description

The NSG is the eastern slopes up to the hilltop in the area of the Galgenberg to the Schwarzenberg. The NSG consists of large, poor grassland areas with numerous hedges and field trees. There are poor pastures and grasslands in the grassland. The NSG is loosened up by individual trees, hedges and field trees. The slopes are exposed northeast to southeast and have slopes between 5 and 30 degrees. In the area old arable terraces can be seen in places. The low-rain location of the Marsberg plateau, the relatively low water absorption of the surrounding weathered limestone soils and the predominantly small-scale and extensive use of grassland have led to the emergence of lean grassland communities. The spectrum ranges from economic grassland to species-rich poor pastures to poor grassland . Due to its inventory of plant and insect species, the NSG has a high nature conservation value. A number of endangered bird species also benefit from the food supply and nesting opportunities that this small-scale cultural landscape offers. Species such as the blackcap and red-backed killer breed in the hedges .

Protection purpose of the nature reserve

The NSG was designated to maintain a structure and species-rich biotope complex on a grassland slope with numerous hedges and field trees.
