geography

course

The Heubach has two source streams, both with a length between 700 and 800 meters and a partial catchment area of just over 0.4 km².

The left main branch, which is somewhat richer in catchment area, begins its course at about 379  m above sea level. NN in a hollow in the forest between the wastes Gottesberg and Osterberg about 150 meters northeast of the crossing of the connecting path between the two wastes. From here on it is winding its way south, even before half of it is only accompanied by a gallery of trees. Then lie at about 350  m above sea level. NN two tiny ponds on the left bank, from the same side the short runoff of a spring falls at the same height in a tree-filled secondary hollow. One field width further, it unites with its right neighbor about 200 meters north of the outskirts of Rankam .

The right branch branch arises a little up the northernmost courtyard of the scattered hamlet of Rainsfurt at about 357  m above sea level. NN also in a forest hollow, but which is southwest of Osterberg. On the south course he immediately steps out of the forest and, henceforth, slightly twisted, he then turns between the other farms of the hamlet to the southeast. Half a dozen ponds accompany its course, and only at its lower course are trees on the bank again. Finally, after a short twisted stretch, it merges with the main run.

Depression of the Heubach south of Rankam

The course of the name of the Heubach from its confluence moves south-southeast towards Rankam, soon without a tree on the bank, and passes most of the hamlet to the east. After nearly 200 meters verdolter track under a field through it pivots gradually Ostsüdostlauf he north of the front of a Hofgruppe A 3 reached. On this section there is again a few bushes on the bank. On the edge of Kreisstraße 29 from nearby Degernbach in the east, it bends south for its last 150 meters. On the north side of the A 3 it then flows next to two ponds at the confluence angle with a total area of 0.2 ha at about 325  m above sea level. NN from the left in the Degernbach .

Catchment area

The Heubach is 2.3 km long on its main strand, on which it has a gradient of about 54 meters, its mean bottom gradient is thus around 23 ‰.

Its catchment area covers 1.9 km² on the southern slope of the Bavarian Forest to the Danube valley . It extends about 2.2 km in north-south direction and has a fairly constant width of 0.8 km. The Heubach flows in it roughly in the middle. It borders in the north on the drainage area of the Bogenbach tributary Dummbach , in the east on that of the Waidbach , which also runs a little above the Degernbach . Behind the western watershed, the Bogenbach, which includes the Degernbach, flows almost parallel to the Heubach .

In less than a quarter of the catchment area, there is forest, almost exclusively on the steeper valley slopes in the north, where also on the northern watershed near the hamlet of Netzstuhl von Windberg the 465  m above sea level. NN is the highest point. The northern part is scattered, partly in cleared islands, further to the south the population is mainly concentrated in the centrally located Rankam with its half dozen adjacent courtyards.
