Hey la, hey la, the Bouffants are there is an American television - comedy from the year 1989 .

action

When the three bouffants were still teenagers, they had a big hit in the early 1960s with "Hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend's back" . However, nothing more came of their joint career. The television producer Harry Simon tries to find the three women in order to convince them to make a comeback. He finds Vickie in an old bowling alley, where she still sings her old songs. Chris has become a housewife and mother, and Debra "Debbie" McGuire is the senior vice president of marketing for a multimillion dollar company. All three are persuaded to travel to Los Angeles for two weeks to prepare for their comeback.

But there are still tensions among the former girlfriends, because Vickie has never forgiven Debbie for once sleeping with her crush Michael Page. She is all the more pleased that, after Debbie's voice fails, she is appointed as the new lead singer. Debbie doesn't like that, which is why she disappears without a trace after she has already moved into the luxury hotel and dressed again. Harry is horrified, can just reassure those in charge at NBC and insists on the contract that Debbie signed so that she appears again and the rehearsals can continue. She also takes singing lessons to get all the years of alcohol and smoking out of her voice. She gets so good at it that Harry asks her if she doesn't want to be the old lead singer again.

Vickie notices this and sees her performance in danger, which is why she wants to leave with Chris herself. But Debbie can stop her by explaining to her that she did without it so that Vickie, who has been performing everywhere for over 25 years, can have her big appearance in front of an audience. During the conversation, Vicky reproaches her about Michael Page and Debbie reassures her that he was nowhere near as good as her love for him. After Michael Page visits her in the dressing room with his family shortly before her performance, Vickie realizes that all the pain in love for this overweight and bald man has been in vain. She feels so good afterwards that she renounces the role of lead singer and makes her big appearance together with Chris and Debbie.
