Hi-Five was an American boy band that released their first album in 1990 . The single I Like the Way (The Kissing Game) , which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991 , became the band's first and biggest hit .
Band history
In 1990 the teenage band Hi-Five formed, which presented a mixture of R&B and pop . This was the beginning of the attempt to repeat the success of the Jackson 5 .
The debut album Hi-Five was in the top 40 of the Billboard charts in 1991 . The single I Like the Way (The Kissing Game) even conquered number one in the USA and number 41 in Germany . Shortly thereafter, Easley left the group and was replaced by Treston Irby. The following singles I Can't Wait Another Minute (8th place), Just Another Girlfriend (88th place) and She's Playing Hard to Get (5th place) also made it into the domestic hit parade .
With the albums Keep It Goin 'On (1992 place 82) and Faithful (1993 place 105) only small successes could be achieved. The singles Quality Time (38th place), Unconditional Love (92nd place) and Never Should've Let You Go (30th place) also fell short of expectations. The group disbanded in the mid-1990s.
Thompson later re-formed the band and released the album The Return in 2005 . He died in 2007 in Waco, Texas, from an overdose of unspecified drugs.
