Hickman is the administrative seat of Fulton County in the west of the US -amerikanischen state of Kentucky with 2,212 inhabitants. The city lies on the Mississippi , over which the ferry from Hickman to Dorena, Missouri runs. This is the only ferry route between the states of Missouri and Kentucky.

Hickman is located at latitude 36 ° 34 '2 "north and longitude 89 ° 11' 11" west. The city has an area of 9.3 km², of which 9.2 km² consists of land.
Demographics
In the 2000 census, the population was 2,560. These were distributed over 1,015 households in 665 families. The population density was 277.6 / km². There were 1,177 buildings, which corresponds to a density of 127.7 / km².
The population in 2000 was 64.06% white , 34.96% African American , 0.08% American Indian , and 0.04% other. 0.86% said they came from at least two of these groups. 0.51% of the population were Hispanics from any of the above groups.
24.9% were under 18 years of age, 10.9% between 18 and 24, 26.8% between 25 and 44, 23.0% between 45 and 64 and 14.4% 65 and older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 women there were 94.2 men, among those over 18 years of age 90.2.
The median income was $ 21,655 and the median family income was $ 27,384. The average income for men was $ 25,625 and that of women was $ 18,264. The per capita income was $ 11,573. Around 24.8% of families and 27.1% of the total population had their income below the poverty line.
