Hilde von Lang

Hilde von Lang (born October 12, 1925 in Hamburg ; † April 3, 2011 ) was a German publisher . From 1969 to 1999 she worked for Die Zeit , initially as an assistant, later as an authorized signatory , general representative, managing director and publisher. She was a member of the supervisory board until her death. From 1977 to 1989 she was an assessor on the board of the Hamburg newspaper publishers' association and until 1999 deputy chairwoman of the state organization. She also represented the newspaper publishers association as a delegate at the BDZV . From 1997 to 1999 she was a member of the board of trustees of the Zeit Foundation .

Little is known about Hilde von Lang's environment, family and youth. She broke off her law studies after the fifth semester because of her pregnancy and worked temporarily as a gossip reporter at the Neue Post . In 1960 she gave birth to their son Michael Brassey. In 1969 she got a temporary position at Zeit Verlag, where she was entrusted with the acquisition and development of the job advertisement business; In 1972 she was permanently employed and was responsible for advertising, media and market research. In 1977 she appointed Gerd Bucerius , whose partner she was, as managing director. From 1989 she was solely authorized to sign. In 1985 she also became a publisher, together with Helmut Schmidt .

After Gerd Bucerius' death in 1995, Hilde von Lang sold Zeit-Verlag to the Holtzbrinck publishing group as the executor of his will . The sale had already been prepared during Bucerius' lifetime. In 1999 she largely ended her career.
