Hildegard Tucholski

Hildegard Tucholski (née Schwarz ; born November 27, 1902 in Berlin ; † June 1974 in Witzenhausen ) was a German painter .

Life

Tucholski was born the daughter of a Siemens engineer. Against her father's resistance, she attended classes at the State Museum of Applied Arts in Berlin . She financed her studies through small orders and restoration work at Lauenstein Castle. She received inspiration from the painter Joachim Ringelnatz . In 1923 she became a master student with Emil Orlik . She became a member of the Association of Berlin Artists and made the acquaintance of Gerda Rotermund and Käthe Kollwitz . In 1935 she married the guitarist Gerhard Tucholski (brother of Herbert Tucholski ). She designed cinema and theater posters as well as illustrations in picture books. In 1948 her pictures were shown at exhibitions alongside Karl Hofer , Oskar Nerlinger and Renée Sintenis .
