Hillary Scott (singer)
Hillary Dawn Scott (born April 1, 1986 in Nashville , Tennessee ) is an American singer of country and religious pop music . She became known as the singer of the country band Lady Antebellum .
Career
Hillary Scott grew up in the country capital Nashville, her parents Linda Davis and Lang Scott are country musicians themselves. After high school, she tried to start her own career, working with country singer Victoria Shaw. She also applied to American Idol twice, but was not accepted. In 2006 she met Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood and they formed the band Lady Antebellum . Between 2008 and 2014 the trio had numerous chart hits and three number one albums.
In 2015 the band took a break and Hillary Scott announced that they would like to release their own album. With the musical support of her parents and her younger sister Rylee and with Ricky Skaggs as producer, she recorded gospel songs and country songs with religious texts. On July 29, 2016, the album Love Remains by Hillary Scott & the Scott Family was released and entered the Christian album charts at number 1. In the country albums it reached number 2 and in the official album charts it came to number 7. The song Thy Will was a number one hit with the Christian songs. In the song, she processes a miscarriage that she suffered the year before.
The song and album each earned the Scotts an award in the Gospel / Christian Pop Music category at the 2017 Grammy Awards .
Hillary Scott is married to drummer Chris Tyrell and has a daughter (* 2014) and twin daughters (* 2018) with him.
