from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franz Edler von Hilleprandt (born August 29, 1796 in Vienna , † September 17, 1871 in Salzburg ) was the Imperial and Royal Court and Court Advisor in Salzburg and founder of the first Austrian savings bank and long-time secretary of the Cathedral Music Association and Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Life

Hilleprandt went to Salzburg as a lawyer in 1826, where he became a member of the board of the local culture and art association "Museum" in the same year. From the founding of the Dommusikverein and Mozarteum in 1841, he was its secretary for 30 years and thus a central figure in Salzburg's musical life. When establishing the Cathedral Music Association and the Mozarteum, he orientated himself towards the Society of Music Friends in Vienna, with which he maintained close contacts. He was just as much involved in the establishment of the Mozart Museum in the composer's birthplace in 1841 as he was in the construction of the Salzburg Mozart Monument in 1842.

On April 5, 1848, he was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Salzburg .
