Hilliard Greene

Hilliard Greene (born February 26, 1958 ) is an American bassist ( double bass , bass guitar ) of the modern creative and improvised music and music teacher .

Live and act

Hilliard Greene studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and at the University of Northern Iowa . He was musical director for the singer Jimmy Scott for thirteen years . For Cecil Taylor he was concertmaster for his ensemble Phtongos and played in the trio of pianist Don Pullen . He worked under his own name with his ensemble The Jazz Expressions , with whom he recorded three albums; he also had a trio with Steve Swell and Barry Altschul . In 2003 he presented his solo album Alone . He has also worked on recordings by Dave Douglas ( Sanctuary , 1997), Klaus Kugel , Perry Robinson , Charles Gayle ( Repent , 1997) and Patrick Brennan .

He currently works as a music educator at Bass Collective in New York City; He also holds workshops and teaches master classes in double bass and bass guitar.
