Hilmar Fuchs
Hilmar Fuchs (born April 30, 1940 in Falkenstein / Vogtl. ) Is a German textile engineer.
Life
Hilmar Fuchs studied textile technology at the TH / TU Dresden from 1960 to 1966 and was then a scientific assistant at the Institute for Textile Technology. After a research stay at the chair for cotton spinning at the Textile Institute in Moscow, he received his doctorate in 1973 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TU Dresden on the subject of "On the radial pressure behavior of drawstring tapes and its influence on the textile-physical properties of fiber tapes and the ring and elementary yarns made from them".
From 1973 to 1990 he was a research assistant and department head at the Scientific and Technical Center for Technical Textiles in Dresden. In 1990 he became managing director of the Institute for Technical Textiles, Dresden.
Since 1992, Fuchs has been chairman of the board of the Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) in Chemnitz.
In 1994 Fuchs was appointed professor for technical textiles in Dresden. In September 2008 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
