Edgar Most
Edgar Most (born March 21, 1940 in Tiefenort ; † December 12, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German bank manager . He was the last Vice President of the State Bank of the GDR in 1990 and co-founder and chairman of the board of Deutsche Kreditbank AG . He belonged to the advisory group of the federal government for the reconstruction of the east as well as the discussion group east .
Life
Most came from a family of miners in Thuringia. At the age of fourteen he began an apprenticeship in banking at the German Central Bank in Bad Salzungen . In 1964 he was able to successfully complete his correspondence course at the technical college for finance in Gotha . After that, at the age of 22, he was delegated to Schwedt an der Oder to what was then the largest industrial construction site in Eastern Europe. He was used as a branch manager, later at the age of 26 as the youngest bank director in the GDR for the development of the petrochemical combine . Edgar Most was a member of the SED and was also listed as IM "Heinrich" by the Stasi . However, he did not hide the contact with Stasi employees, but officially invited them to his office and told friends and colleagues about his contacts and obligations. As an unreliable cadre, he was monitored. Back in Berlin he worked at the head office of the State Bank of the GDR and decided to study at the Humboldt University with a degree in economics. He successfully completed another distance learning course as a graduate economist at the Berlin-Karlshorst School of Economics .
As one of the directors, Most became the last Vice President of the State Bank of the GDR in 1990. He was co-founder and CEO of Deutsche Kreditbank AG , the first private bank in the New States. After the bank was bought by Deutsche Bank , he became a member of the management team at Deutsche Bank in Berlin in December 1990. Until 2004 he was director of Deutsche Bank in Berlin and a member of the management of Deutsche Bank. Most was CEO (1999 to 2002) of the East German Bankers Association .
Edgar Most was chairman of the support and friends' group of the TU Ilmenau from 2001 to 2008 and chairman of the university council of the TU Ilmenau from 2008 to 2015.
Edgar Most lived with his wife in Berlin; the marriage resulted in two children. Until recently he maintained an office in the International Trade Center on Friedrichstrasse. He finds his final resting place in the Pankow XII cemetery in Berlin.
