Karl Döring (Manager)

Karl Döring (born May 11, 1937 in Hohenstein-Ernstthal ) is a German manager. From 1979 to 1985 he was the GDR's deputy minister for ore mining, metallurgy and potash .

Life

Karl Döring studied metallurgy from 1955 to 1962 at the Moscow University of Steel and Alloys ( Russian Московский институт стали и сплавов ), where he graduated in 1962 with a diploma. After graduating there as a graduate engineer, he began working as a shift technologist in the Brandenburg steel and rolling mill.

From 1963 to 1967 he completed a postgraduate course and was 1967 in Engineering Dr.-Ing. PhD . In 1973 he was at the University of Economics in Berlin in Economics Dr. oec. PhD.

From 1967 to 1972 Döring was research engineer and production director at the Riesa steel and rolling mill . In 1972 he and a Soviet-German research team received the national prize . From 1972 to 1978 he worked as production director and deputy general director in the Hennigsdorf quality and stainless steel combine ( Hennigsdorf steel and rolling mill ). From 1979 to 1985 he was Deputy Minister for Ore Mining, Metallurgy and Potash.

In 1985 he became general director of the VEB Bandstahlkombinat and from 1990 to 1995 chairman of the board of the EKO Stahl AG Eisenhüttenstadt, which emerged from the combine . In parallel, he worked in various bilateral and RGW with -Gremien. From July to November 1990 he was deputy chairman of the board of directors of the Treuhandanstalt and then until 2000 managing director technology at EKO Stahl GmbH of the Cockerill-Sambre group. He was a member of the Eastern Discussion Group .

In 2000 he was awarded the honorary title of Professor hc by the Moscow University of Steel and Alloys. From 2000 to 2002 he was General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at the French steel company Usinor . Since 2006 he has been on the Board of Directors of Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) in Russia.

Karl Döring is active in the steel industry with his consulting company "Projekt Consulting", founded in 2000.
