In July 1883, soda production began using the ammonia-soda process and the manufacture of caustic soda . On August 4, 1884, the plant was temporarily shut down due to technical difficulties. In 1885, production was resumed and increased to a daily production of ten tons of calcined soda. In 1888, crystal soda was added. In 1921 the property went to Goldschmidt AG and thus the production of calcined soda rose to 75 tons per day. In 1925, the production of sodium hydrogen carbonate began. In 1927, 50% of the ownership of the soda factory was divided between Goldschmidt AG and Preussag Berlin, which secured the raw material base rock salt and lignite. In April 1945 production was stopped again due to the end of the Second World War and only resumed in December 1945. On March 26, 1946, large production sections such as B. the caustic soda factory, which was completely dismantled, and the name changed to Industrie-Werke Sachsen-Anhalt, soda factory Staßfurt.
