The Himmelbach is a right tributary of the Glatt in the area of the Rümlanger Ried , the location of today 's Zurich Airport . The section above the Goldentors also means Brunnbach , the old upper reaches to the place of arms Kloten named Ruebisbach whose top part again as Schlattbächli is called. During the 20th century, the course of the brook was greatly changed several times in the course of draining large parts of the moor; the introduction of water from the Altbach in the 1970s also significantly increased the catchment area of the Himmelbach.
geography
course
After the union of the Ruebisbach with the canal coming from the Altbach near the Kloten barracks, the Brunnbach now follows the northeastern side of the airport on the eastern floor of the Glatttal, parallel at a distance of around 1.5 to 2 kilometers to the Glatt on the other side of the slopes . After Goldentor he turned out to be Himmelsbach against the West and led along the border with the municipality angle into Niedertann, where he joined in on Rümlang area in the Glatt river spilled. Only two sections of this stream have survived since the airport was built; The Himmelbach was then led in a wide arc through today's Rietholz until the construction of the V-slope, the remainder of which now drains this part of the reed as the Alter Himmelbach . Today's Himmelbach, on the other hand, continues in a straight line to the north-west, receives two tributaries coming from Rüti, crosses under the slopes in a south-easterly direction after it joins the Saumgraben and finally flows into Oberglatt at 390 m above sea level.
