Himmelsberg is a district of the district town of Sondershausen in the Kyffhäuserkreis ( Thuringia ). A Christmas post office is located here.

The place is on the northwestern edge of the Thuringian Basin on a southern branch of the Hainleite . East of the village is Schernberg , north Immenrode , northwest Großberndten and southwest Helbedündorf .

history

The place is first mentioned in 1467 as Hemmelsberg . In 1584 it was incorporated into the Straussberg Office . In 1818 the Himmelsberger and the Schernberger parish offices were united. In 1845 the St. Mauritius Church was renewed. On March 14, 1974, Himmelsberg was incorporated into Schernberg. Since 1999 the place has been an independent part of the community of Schernberg, which in turn was incorporated into the town of Sondershausen on December 1, 2007.
