Hinganghat is a city in the state of Maharashtra in western India . It is part of the Wardha district . Hinganghat is divided into 33 wards and is administered as the Municipal Council. The city is located in the east of Maharashtra. From Hinganghat it's 764 kilometers to Mumbai . The city is around 1500 years old. In Hinganghat there is a 16 meter high statue of the god Vithoba .
Demographics
The city's population is 101,805 according to the 2011 census. Hinganghat has a gender ratio of 936 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The literacy rate was 93.3% in 2011. Almost 77.1% of the population are Hindus , approx. 13.4% are Buddhists , approx. 7.9% are Muslims , approx. 1.2% are Jainas , approx 0.2% are Christians and about 0.3% belong to other or no religions. 9.8% of the population are children under six years of age.
Infrastructure
The city is connected to the rest of the country by a train station. The National Highway 7 , part of the North-South corridor , passes through the town.
