Hinrich Struve

Hinrich Struve (born February 27, 1929 ) is a German firefighter . From 1981 to 1993 he was President of the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV).

Career

Struve joined the Niebüll volunteer fire department in 1943 . In 1963 he was elected military leader of the Reußenköge volunteer fire brigade , and in 1972 he was appointed district fire chief ( Kreisbrandmeister ) in the district of North Friesland . From 1979 Struve was state fire chief. In 1974 he also took over the deputy chairmanship of the Schleswig-Holstein Fire Brigade Association , from 1980 to 1985 he was its chairman.

In 1981 he was elected President of the German Fire Brigade Association to succeed Albert Bürger . He led the association through the time of the reunification of Germany and accompanied the reconstruction of the communal fire service in the eastern German states. In 1988 the new building of the German Fire Brigade Museum in Fulda, of which Struve was chairman of the foundation from 1981 to 1993, was moved into. When he left office at the end of 1993, he was made honorary president of the DFV. Beyond his tenure as DFV President, Struve was Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of the German Fire Brigade Museum until December 2010.

He was also Vice President of the World Fire Brigade Association CTIF for many years .
