Hintersteinbach is one of 22 districts of the Baden-Württemberg community of Ellenberg , which is located in the Ostalb district .

geography

The hamlet is located a little north of the Rotach tributary Meizenbach at the eastern foot of the Ellenberg plateau in the middle of a larger cleared island. The Hintersteinbach, which comprises about a dozen house numbers along with some agricultural outbuildings, stands at an altitude of 477  m above sea level. NHN , is about four kilometers from the west-north-west Ellenberg and its easternmost district. Only about half a kilometer away on the south-western edge of the clearing island is the Ellenberger individual farm on the farm.

history

Hintersteinbach was mentioned for the first time in 1337 as a hinder Steinbach . At the end of the Holy Roman Empire , the village was owned by the Prince Provosts of Ellwangen and, with the secularization of the Prince Provosts' office in 1802, was forcibly taken over by the Kingdom of Württemberg . Hintersteinbach then belonged to the newly created Oberamt Ellwangen and became part of the independent rural community of Ellenberg, which also included 18 other localities , through the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Württemberg at the beginning of the 19th century .

Ellenberg has a connection to the public road network via the district road K 3221 , which runs from Ellenberg to Stödtlen in the east , from which a side road branches off to the northeast in the village, which creates a connection to Wört in the north.
