Dabbing
Hintertupfingen (in the Alemannic- speaking area) and Hintertupfing (in the Bavarian-Austrian- speaking area, i.e. east of the Lech ) are fictional place names in the colloquial language that indicate that a place is very small and remote.
The term Hintertupfing (en) has been in use since around 1920 and is particularly widespread in southern Germany. Lutz Röhrich translates the phrase “to be from Hintertupfingen” with “to be a real backwoodsman ” and with “to live in a place that is far from any civilization ”.
Similar names are Hinterpfupfikon or Hinterpfupfike (in parts of eastern German-speaking Switzerland) as well as Hinterfultigen (a real existing hamlet in the Bernese area), Hinterduggigen (compare the real existing place Duggingen ) in northwestern Switzerland or Kleinkleckersdorf in northeastern Germany. The meaning roughly corresponds to the fictional place name Krähwinkel with the connotation of provincialism . The places Pusemuckel or Posemuckel (especially in northwest Germany), which are also frequently used, actually exist in Poland (today Podmokle Wielkie and Podmokle Małe ).
The model railway -Gebäudebausätzen for stations of nominal size H0 of Faller GmbH has a breakpoint Hintertupfingen the range.
The Norwegian puppet film Flåklypa Grand Prix from 1975 was shown in Germany as the Hintertupfinger Grand Prix .
