Hippodrome de Longchamp
The Longchamp Racecourse (French: Hippodrome de Longchamp ) is the most important horse racing facility in Paris . It is located in the Bois de Boulogne in the 16th arrondissement .
The current hippodrome was built in 1857 on the walls of Longchamp Abbey, which was destroyed in the French Revolution .
Since October 3, 1920, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe has been held on the first Sunday in October . In addition to other horse races and jumping tournaments , other sporting events take place.
The company of the same name was named Longchamp after the racecourse . It manufactures luxury products in the leather goods industry . The Italian sports car De Tomaso Longchamp also got its name after the racetrack.

Longchamps racecourse has been immortalized by famous artists, including Édouard Manet , who created Les Courses à Longchamp in 1867 , Edgar Degas with his painting Chevaux de course à Longchamp and Giuseppe De Nittis , 1883.
