The Hispar Sar is a 6400 m high mountain in the Karakoram .
location
It belongs to the Hispar Muztagh , part of the Karakoram main chain in the Pakistani autonomous region of Gilgit-Baltistan . The Hispar Sar is located on the north side of the Hispar Glacier . The mountain is flanked in the west by the Yutmaru Glacier and in the east by the Khani Basa Glacier . A 5370 m high saddle separates the Hispar Sar from the 5.75 km northeast of Khani Basa Sar ( 6441 m ). The ridge leads further north to Kanjut Sar I ( 7760 m ). The Kanjut Sar II ( 6831 m ) is 7.77 km east-northeast on the opposite side of the Khani Basa Glacier.
Ascent history
A New Zealand expedition attempted to climb Hispar Sar twice in 1991. Another attempt was made in September 2004 by the two Britons Simon Yates and Andy Parkin. In October 2008 the Briton Rufus Duits tried to climb Hispar Sar alone. Finally, on August 5, 2011, the Americans Doug Chabot, Bruce Miller and Steve Su made the first ascent of Hispar Sar. The ascent route led from the Yutmaru Glacier up the southwest face. In one day, 1100 meters of altitude of difficulty WI4 + were conquered.
