Up until the French Revolution, Hochdorf belonged to the Speyer Monastery . From 1886 Hochdorf was part of the newly created Ludwigshafen district office . In 1928 it had 776 residents who lived in 139 residential buildings. The Catholics owned a local parish at the time, while the Protestants belonged to that of Meckenheim (Palatinate) . After the Second World War , Hochdorf became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform, Hochdorf was merged with the neighboring community of Assenheim on June 7, 1969 to form the new local community of Hochdorf-Assenheim .

Infrastructure

In 1911 the town received a railway connection when the narrow-gauge railway line Ludwigshafen – Dannstadt opened in 1890 was extended to Meckenheim. From 1933, the line ran in an easterly direction only to Mundenheim . In 1955 it was shut down.
