The Hochstarzel is a 1974 m high grass mountain made of flysch rock in the Allgäu Alps in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . It is part of the Baader mountain framing in the Kleinwalsertal . It is located south of the Grünhorn and north of the Güntlispitze and is known for its rich flora.
Ascent
The Hochstarzel can be reached via a narrow mountain path either from the south via the Derrajoch or from the north via the Starzeljoch . Both yokes can be reached from the north from the Kleinwalsertal and from the south from Schoppernau or from the Hochtannbergpass . Coming from the direction of Starzeljoch, the path to the summit is partially exposed and equipped with safety ropes, which is why surefootedness and a head for heights are a prerequisite for the ascent .
