The 1868 m high Starzeljoch connects the valley of the Bregenz Ach with the Kleinwalsertal . It forms the saddle between the Grünhorn ( 2039 m ) in the north and the Hochstarzel ( 1974 m ) in the south. You can cross the pass on a well-traveled hiking trail .
history
In the middle of the 19th century, a well-developed and well-traveled mule track led over the pass . In the absence of further expansion it later fell into disrepair. Today's hiking trail largely uses this old mule track.
In order to connect the Kleine Walsertal, which belongs to Austria , with the Starzeljoch by a road, projects have repeatedly been raised to cross under the Starzeljoch with a vertex tunnel. This project is part of the larger project of a "transversal Vorarlberg" which is the Small Walsertal about once Faschinajoch with the Montafon and one day with the Grisons Prättigau should connect.
