history

In 1257 a settlement was called Wemme and in 1374 it was documented as Wumzide . In 1705 seven farms in the old village of Wummensiede on the south bank of the Wümme were mentioned, including this farm. With its location, it belongs to the historical cultural landscape of the blockland. The farm is first mentioned around 1610 through a bar inscription on the barn. In 1682 the Kropp family was named as the owner of the farm. In 1871 the family owned 233 acres of land (Bremer Morgen = 2572 m²). The Meier right was replaced in 1874. The family is still the owner of the farm to this day (2018), which in 1927 was around 64  hectares in size.

The thatched main building is a Low German hall building with a hall, flett (open kitchen-living room) and a compartment. The compartments are now bricked up. The gable triangle was boarded up.

The thatched barn with transverse passage is one of the oldest in Bremen as an anchor barn (see also Scheune Im Dorfe 6 in Vegesack ).
Anchor bar barns have been erected in post construction since the Middle Ages , with the
posts erected on a brick base being connected (anchored) to each other and to the outer wall by horizontal beams, the so-called anchor beams. The anchor beams also served as a support for the ceiling construction of the attic with only a low load bearing capacity. This construction was still in use for simple buildings until the end of the 19th century.
The barn was partially converted into a calf barn with massive outer walls.

The old bakery and milk house with anchor beam construction and pan roof belongs to the courtyard.

At the 2016 Bremen Monument Preservation Prize, Renate Kropp-Hildebrand received special recognition in the building owner category. In 2018 she was awarded the Federal Prize for Crafts in Monument Preservation (special prize, Wolfgang and Ursula Engelbarts sponsorship prize for particularly outstanding restoration work on listed objects ) "for her long-term and selfless commitment to the preservation of the Hildebrandt farm" .

Note: The Lür-Kropp-Hof is in Bremen- Oberneuland .
