The Hofmann Spur is an icy mountain ridge in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . On the west side of the Royal Society Range , it extends between the Allison and Dale glaciers .

The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1994 after David J. Hofmann (1937–2009) from the University of Wyoming and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration , who carried out studies on the composition of the upper layers of the earth's atmosphere in Antarctica for 15 years using balloon probes and thus contributed to the understanding of the ozone hole .
