Hofstetten (Gemünden am Main)

Hofstetten am Main is part of Gemünden am Main in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart . The small place is on the edge of the Spessart and has about 430 inhabitants. It was incorporated on January 1, 1971. The MSP 11 district road and the Franconian Marienweg run through Hofstetten .

In Hofstetten there are a few small businesses, a kindergarten and various local clubs (sports club ASV Hofstetten, Hofstetten volunteer fire brigade, Hofstetten fruit and gardening club, Hofstetten kindergarten club, Hofstetten brass band) that play a decisive role in shaping local life.

Hofstetten is known beyond the local borders for the Schönrain campsite, which attracts many visitors not only from the Frankfurt / Hanau region.

On November 2nd, 1850 in Würzburg, the 30-year-old robbery murderer Heinrich Schuhmann from Hofstetten was beheaded with the sword “in front of a countless crowd” .
