geography

history
Hohenmemmingen was first mentioned around 800 in the Codex Eberhardi of the Fulda monastery .
The place belonged to the rule of Staufen , who sold the place to the Counts of Helfenstein in 1353 . So the place came under the rule of Heidenheim and came with this in 1504 to the Duchy of Württemberg . The village belonged to the Heidenheim office early on. In Hohenmemmingen, the Reformation was introduced in 1536 as a result of belonging to Württemberg . During the implementation of the administrative structure in the Kingdom of Württemberg , Hohenmemmingen first came to the short-lived Oberamt Giengen in 1806 and then back to the Oberamt Heidenheim in 1809 . The administrative reform of April 25, 1938 during the Nazi era in Württemberg led to membership in the newly formed Heidenheim district . After the Second World War, the place fell into the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the state of Württemberg-Baden , which was incorporated into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.
The formerly independent community of Hohenmemmingen came to the town of Giengen an der Brenz on March 15, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
