The Hohennauener Wasserstraße (HnW) is a so-called other federal inland waterway. It belongs to the Lower Havel waterway . The Brandenburg Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible .

Geographical location

The waterway extends from west to east in the state of Brandenburg in the Havelland district . On the north bank of the waterway are the places Hohennauen and water soup , on the south bank Semlin , a district of the town of Rathenow .

course

The waterway branches off as a canal at kilometer 111.84 of the Lower Havel waterway from the Havel . It consists of an approximately 1.75 kilometer long section of the Great Havelland Main Canal , also known as the Hohennauen Canal , and the 8.83 kilometer long Hohennauener-Ferchesarer See . The kilometering of the Hohennauen waterway begins at the Havel and runs eastwards past the confluence of the Great Havelland Main Canal at water soup to the eastern end of the lake.

Inland waterway

The Hohennauener Wasserstrasse is now of minor importance for shipping and is only used by a small passenger ship and pleasure craft. The water depths in the Hohennauen Canal are between 80 centimeters and 1.50 meters in relation to the sub-level in Rathenow. The lake stretch is consistently over two meters deep and only flattens out near the shore. In the bottleneck Lötze at kilometer 3.40, the water depth in the middle of the fairway is 1.90 meters on average.

bridges

Two bridges cross the waterway, the road bridge of the federal highway 102 at kilometer 1.60 and a riveted steel truss bridge at kilometer 1.50 of a former railway line. The street used to run about 50 meters further west along the Alte Rathenower Straße over the Hohennauen Canal.
