history

The village of water soup was first mentioned in 1441 as "water soup". In the years that followed, the place name changed from "watersibbe" to "watersuppe" and finally to "water soup". There are several options for interpreting the Slavic place name. Most likely it is a mock name . However, it is also possible to transfer the name of the place from the originally eponymous, desolate village "Veterzeb" near Ladeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

Around the time of the Seven Years' War the village was acquired by the Prussian officer Karl Theophil Guichard , who owned it until his death in 1775. The water soup village church was built in 1756. In 1780 a manor house was built in water soup . This was used as the seat of the local agricultural production cooperative during the GDR era .

Water soup has always been in the Kingdom of Prussia and there in the Westhavelland district . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Rathenow district in the Potsdam district . After the reunification in the GDR , water soup was initially in the Rathenow district and joined the Rhinow Office on April 1, 1992 together with thirteen other communities . In the course of the Brandenburg district reform of December 6, 1993, water soup was assigned to the Havelland district . On December 31, 2001, water soup was merged with the previously independent communities of Hohennauen and Witzke to form the new community of Seeblick .
