Holger Gehring

Holger Gehring (* 1969 in Bielefeld ) is a German organist . He is the organist of the Kreuzkirche Dresden .

Life

Gehring received his first musical training in Bielefeld and studied church music at the music academies in Lübeck (organ with Martin Haselböck , harpsichord with Hans-Jürgen Schnoor ) and Stuttgart (organ and harpsichord with Jon Laukvik ). He then studied artistic organ playing with Daniel Roth at the Frankfurt University of Music and then organ soloist class with Ludger Lohmann at the Stuttgart University of Music . At the same time he studied at the Schola Cantorum in Basel with Jesper Bøje Christensen harpsichord, figured bass and ensemble for early music. Master classes took him to Marie-Claire Alain , Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini , Andrea Marcon and Michael Radulescu .

After his church music activity at the Friedenskirche Ludwigsburg and as assistant to the Württemberg regional church music director , he worked as a cantor at the town church Bad Hersfeld , as well as a lecturer at the church music training center Schlüchtern and organ expert at the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck . In November 2004 he was appointed cross organist at the Kreuzkirche Dresden and in December 2005 he was appointed organ expert of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony .

At the beginning of 2009 he was appointed to succeed Ernst-Erich Stender as organist at the Marienkirche in Lübeck . He should start his service here on May 1st, 2009. After intensive negotiations with the church council of the Kreuzkirche, Gehring withdrew the notice that had already been given, did not sign the negotiated Lübeck employment contract and decided to stay in Dresden.

As a Kreuz organist, Holger Gehring regularly gives concerts in church services, Vespers and concerts together with the Dresden Kreuzchor . He is the winner of several national and international competitions for organ literature playing and improvisation. Numerous publications on organ playing and organ building, CD, radio and television recordings complement his work. Lively concert activity takes him through Germany and abroad.
