Holger Hammerich

Holger Hammerich (born February 22, 1940 in Kiel ) is a German Protestant church historian .

Life

After studying Protestant theology , Hammerich started working on baptism and asceticism in Hamburg . The postponement of baptism in pre-Constantine times received his doctorate and habilitation in 1997 with the work History of the baptism postponement in the time of the Reich Church . Since 2005 he has been an adjunct professor for church history at the University of Hamburg .

He is the former head of the Pedagogical-Theological Institute in North Elbe, Kiel, a member of the scientific advisory board of the magazine Religion heute and chairman of the board of trustees of the Protestant distance learning center for church services . His research focus is the old church - in particular the history of baptism.
