Holger Keipke (born October 10, 1950 in Cramonshagen ) is a former German football goalkeeper. Between 1969 and 1976 he was in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , in the goal of Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and FC Vorwärts Frankfurt . Keipke is a multiple GDR junior and young national player.

Athletic career

In 1969, Holger Keipke first came into the focus of GDR-wide sports coverage when he was runner-up in the UEFA youth tournament with the GDR junior national team . Since August 1968 he had played a total of eleven international matches with the junior team as a goalkeeper as a player in the company sports association (BSG) Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. In July 1969, he played an international match with the GDR youth national team .

For the 1969/70 season Keipke started in the men's division at BSG Stahl. This was promoted to the league, and coach Manfred Fuchs used the 18-year-old Keipke in the first league game. It was Keipke's only league appearance for Eisenhüttenstadt, because then Fuchs relied on the 27-year-old Walter Reschke until the end of the season . Keipke was transferred to the 2nd team that played in the second-rate GDR league . With ten missions in 30 played point games, he was not able to establish himself there in the regular eleven. At the end of the season, the first team was determined to be relegated from the league, then violations of the association's statutes were found, and the team was downgraded to the third-class district league .

In the course of the 1970/71 season Keipke was drafted into military service and initially played in the regional league for the Vorwärts Neubrandenburg army sports community . Before that he was delegated to the top club of the Vorwärts Army Sports Association , FC Vorwärts Frankfurt, at the beginning of the 1971/72 season . There he was classified as the 3rd goalkeeper behind Hartmut Neuhaus and Hans Hofmann and was only used four times in league games. Keipke stayed with forward Frankfurt until 1977, but could not gain a foothold in the 1st team, where he was only used in 15 point games. Most of the games he played in the 2nd team (51 appearances in 110 league games in the GDR).

After a brief interlude with the GDR league club Motor Eberswalde with two league matches in the 1977/78 season, Keipke joined the BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt in the summer of 1978 , which was also represented in the GDR league. There he finally managed to become a regular goalkeeper, because within six seasons he was in goal of the Schwedter in 101 of 132 league games. When BSG Chemie was relegated from the GDR league in 1983, Keipke returned to Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. After nine years he also made it to the goalkeeper for two seasons (48 appearances in 68 point games). Keipke played his last season in a higher-class league at the age of 36 in the 1986/87 season, in which he was in goal for Eisenhüttenstadt for ten GDR league games. Although he was also reported by BSG Stahl as the third goalkeeper of the GDR league team for the season 1987/88, he was no longer used. For the 1988/89 season, the BSG announced the end of his active career.
