The wood pond is about half a kilometer after the junction of the L 265 Ochsenhausen - Bad Wurzach into the L 306 to Füramoos. It was laid out before 1890 and has been part of the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes since 2016. It has a catchment area of 150 ha. In this catchment area, the great crested grebe , little grebe , mallard , tufted duck and white rail have been identified. The fish species roach , rudd , carp and tench can be found in the lake .
Although the lake is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg, the maintenance costs are incurred by the Füramoos sub-municipality. In 2019 the pond was leased to the Ochsenhausen Forestry Office . On wood Weiher is also a forest youth campsite for up to 250 people and an open cabin stay for 60 people from the forest district Rot an der Rot is run.
