Honey Grove is a city with the status City in Fannin County in the US state of Texas with 1674 inhabitants (2013).

Honey Grove is affected in the north by US Highway 82 and is 35 kilometers west of the Texan city of Paris and 130 kilometers northeast of the city of Dallas .

history

Legend has explored Davy Crockett the area in 1836 and reported "with honey ( honey ) filled groves ( grove )." Then the first settlers settled at the place and called it Honey Grove . The city's nickname, The Sweetest Town in Texas, also refers to honey extraction . The official establishment took place in 1873.

The population grew with the cultivation of cotton . When a large part of the harvests were destroyed at the beginning of the 20th century due to the cotton boll beetle ( Anthonomus grandis ) infestation , most of the farms stopped growing cotton and the population fell.

Honey Grove is home to the Thomas and Katherine Trout House , which is on the Fannin County, Texas National Register of Historic Places list. The Bertha Voyer Memorial Library opened in 1962.
