Hong Jun

Hong Jun ( Chinese  洪钧 , Pinyin Hóng Jūn ; born 1839 in Suzhou , Jiangsu Province , Chinese Empire ; died October 2, 1893 in Beijing ) was a Chinese diplomat and scholar.

Life

Hong Jun passed the palace examination in 1868 as the best of his year and in 1883 became Deputy Chancellor of the Imperial Grand Secretariat and Deputy Minister for Rites. From 1884 to 1887 he mourned his mother.

On June 23, 1887, Hong Jun was appointed envoy to Russia , Germany , Austria-Hungary and the Netherlands by the Qing government . He engaged Sai Jinhua for the mission and, with his official seat in Berlin, was also accredited to the courts of Vienna , Saint Petersburg and The Hague .

During his term of office, the change of office from Wilhelm I to Wilhelm II fell. Until 1890 his Berlin office was the Villa von der Heydt ; then he resided in tents no.14 until May 4, 1891 .

From December 15, 1891 to October 1893, he was Deputy Minister of Defense and seconded to the Zongli Yamen .
