history

middle Ages

The place was first mentioned in 1219/20 as Hagensbrunnen . In 1292 it was mentioned again as Hansbrunnen . These terms probably come from personal names. In 1219 part of the old Hohenlohe town came to the Teutonic Order . Nothing is mentioned later about the proportion of sable from Giebelstadt or from Finsterlohr mentioned in 1559. The condominium partners Hohenlohe and Deutscher Orden exercised their authority over their subjects and their goods. The Hohenlohe part belonged to the Weikersheim office and the part of the Teutonic Order to its Wachbach office. The whole place belonged to the Tenth Weikersheim.

Modern times

In 1806 and 1809 the place Honsbronn came to Württemberg. Initially he was then part of the Nitzenhausen District Office, from 1809 to the Mergentheim District Office and from 1938 to the Mergentheim district, which became part of the Main-Tauber district in 1973.

It was not until 1823/28 that Honsbronn was separated from the municipality of Laudenbach and became an independent municipality with Bronn. As part of the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg on May 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Honsbronn was incorporated into the city of Weikersheim.
