Queckbronn is a district of Weikersheim in the Main-Tauber district in the Franconian north-east of Baden-Württemberg .
geography
Queckbronn is located on a hill in the Taubertal . A strong local source gives the place its name, hence the name Queckbronn , which means "living, fresh fountain". In the basin of a small valley that drains into the Vorbach stream, the loosely built village lines the road to Weikersheim. Apart from the village of Queckbronn ( ⊙ ), there is no other residential area in the former municipality of Queckbronn .
history
middle Ages
The place was first mentioned in 1261 as Qwecbruonnen . This designation indicates a fresh source . The small hamlet was probably created in connection with the nearby Neubronn . Like Neubronn, Queckbronns also came to Mainz, Würzburg and Pfalz-Mosbach in 1422/23 through Konrad von Weinsberg, to whom it was pledged. The place later fell back to Hohenlohe. Queckbronn belonged to the Weikersheim tithes .
Modern times
In 1806 Queckbronn came under Württemberg sovereignty and from 1809 belonged to the Mergentheim Oberamt. Since 1938 the place belonged to the district of Mergentheim, which in 1973 became part of the Main-Tauber district.
As part of the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg on January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipalities Queckbronn and Schäftersheim were incorporated into the city of Weikersheim.
